The Midwest. YES, the Midwest
According to my favorite magazine, Southern Living, Texas is part of the South. According to my husband's people who are real honest-to-goodness Southerners, Texas is most certainly not, and to say otherwise is a marketing ploy, bless their ambitious hearts.
I'm not going to argue this point. My point is that I hear and read and eat a lot of Southern food. But now, Gentle Readers, I'm going to point us in a new direction. Are you ready? To the Midwest!

Pictured above is Creamy Chicken and Herb Skillet. I made it a while back, but before I could photograph it, my family inhaled it, and it seemed a bit lame and gimmicky to post a photo of an empty plate. So I made it again (twist my arm). This recipe is easy and fast and absolutely delish. The only ingredient I added was some fresh mushrooms.
This is from a blog called Iowa Girl Eats. The blog is fantastic, and I'm going read it some more.
I confess I don't know much about Midwest cuisine, nor have I given it much thought. Not because I'm regionist (trademark pending), but because dinner takes me by surprise every night ("What? You want to eat again? Tonight?"), so I haven't spared much thought of what my Iowan equivalent is making tonight, and is she also feeling stressed that dinner time sneaks up on her at the same time every night. But I like seeing what this Iowa Girl eats.
